Devan Chard

            My name is Devan and I’m from Albany, New York.  I attended Shaker High School and am currently a sophomore at Manhattan College class of 2013.  I chose Manhattan College because of its location in New York City.  I believe the city will open the doors to many job opportunities, as well as give me great experiences.  I have been a member of the Fashion Student Association for two years.  I enjoy being in FSA because it allows me to become involved in the school, as well as a major event, the annual Spring Fashion Show.  I enjoy participating in the events that the club holds, such as guest speakers and the Dress for Success Fashion Show. The club has also allowed me to meet many new people.  My mom greatly influenced my style as I was growing up. She always allowed me to experiment with the clothes I would wear and express myself through them.  Betsey Johnson is one of my favorite designers.  All of her clothes and accessories are bright in color and fun to wear.  I believe that being a member of FSA will help in the future because it has taught me to work with many other people in order to make a project come together.  It has also taught me time management and organizational skills that will help me meet future deadlines.
            As a psychology major my ideal job would be working in the criminal justice system, providing psychological services to convicted criminals.  I would also enjoy working within the court system in order to determine a defendant's competency to stand on trial.  I am still undecided as to where I would like to attend grad school.  However, I would like to go for Forensic Psychology.
