My name is Katie Peterson and I am a senior here at Manhattan College. I will be graduating this coming May with a B.A. in corporate communications and a minor in marketing.  I transferred to Manhattan my sophomore year of college from Towson University in Maryland.  Being from New York, I realized not only did I want to be closer in distance to my family but I also wanted to be right in New York City to take full advantage of the opportunities and possibilities of this great city.
I learned of FSA in the first few weeks I was on campus and jumped right into the activities that the club offers.  I became a co-director of the second annual spring fashion show and from there became vice-president my junior year and now president.  I have enjoyed all of the aspects of FSA; meeting new people and making great friends, attending show room tours and any fashion shows that come our way, and of course networking with individuals throughout the fashion industry.  Becoming a member solidified the fact that I want to pursue a career in fashion once I graduate, and gave me the chance to take on two internship positions in the city.  I have interned at Kensie Denim last spring semester as well as interning at Tractenberg & Co, a fashion and beauty public relations firm this past summer.  These experiences have taught me a tremendous amount about the fashion industry since there is not a fashion merchandising major on campus.  Making these connections with professionals in the field of fashion will later lead me to a successful career path.
Becoming a part of FSA was the best move I could have made when I transferred to Manhattan.  I have very much enjoyed all of the years being a part of such a great group of young women working together at something we all love, and making FSA a well known name on campus.  Most importantly, joining FSA was a great way to meet great people that without a doubt bettered my experience here at Manhattan College.
